World Photography Day Exhibition

'Memories Forever', a two-day photography exhibition featuring photographs by select Mangalore and Udupi lensmen was inaugurated on Tuesday August 19 at Gallery Aditi here.
The exhibition was jointly organized by Gallery Aditi and UPPA to commemorate the 175th World Photography Day. Former union minister Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the programme by unveiling the frame work, and said that today, with advance in technology and media, opportunities for photographers have increased.
After receiving the felicitation senior journalist and reviewer Ishwarayya said, "Photography is not a technology, it is a modern language. It is the mirror of life. It is not work, but an art."
He remembered personalities like Joseph Neilson, George Eastman, Ansel Adams, Julia Margaret, who contributed to the field.
District in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, DC Muddumohan, Gopal Poojary and P B Harish graced the occasion.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of photography competition. The best 18 pieces were exhibited in the gallery.
Photographers by Mangalore-based photographers like Daijiworld's Dayanand Kukkaje, Ravi Posavanike, Satish Ira, Apul Ira, Subas Siddhamule, H S Manjunath, Ramkrishna Bhat, Govinda Javali, Manjunath Bhat and Udupi photographers like Astro Mohan, Janardhan Kodavoor, Hemanath Padubidri, Umesh Kukkupalke, Ganesh Kalianpur, Sharath Kanangi and others were exhibited.
Dr Kiran Acharya, managing trustee, Gallery Aditi welcome the guests, while Astro Mohan, president, UPPA gave a brief introduction about the exhibition. Ravi Posavanike proposed the vote of thanks, and Janardhan Kodvoor, compered the programme.
The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 7 pm on Wednesday August 20 as well.
